Real City

More short speculative fiction, today’s is Real City by Carrie Vaughn.

It takes a look at a future where everyone’s wired into datalinks, you can know more raw information about someone in the few seconds it takes to cross the room to greet them than you could get in an evening of talking, and all films are “blueboxed” where the entire production is generated by computer around actors who’ve become accustomed to being little more than talking heads and marionettes. What happens when a bluebox actor wants to “break into” single camera/real sets filming? It’s Girl meets Boy meets Screen Test. Another fun read over lunch.

Yet another short story with a romantic plot/subplot. Why is it I can read about romance, but not watch a film about it? Hm.
