Ok, perhaps that was a bit too much food
But oh so good. One of the best things about overeating at brunch is bringing home leftovers that you can heat up that night. In the oven no less! We hit Clyde’s and polished off: a dozen oysters, brioche french toast, a veggie frittata and an egg and prosciutto sandwich. Of course thanks to much more sitting down afterwards, I was pretty out of it when I got home.
I cut out of work a little early on Friday, mostly to go pay my rent (I had to write a check, an actual physical one) and partially to get the heck outta Dodge. After dropping that off over near Woodley Park metro station the words popped into my head, “Why don’t I take a shortcut home through the zoo?” It was only a shortcut by grace of the Red Line, it would have taken a while to go back around to Green, but it is a pretty healthy walk, literally as well as figuratively. But it felt good, even if I was still dressed for work and walking through the little water mist sprays at the zoo. Turns out Culture Club makes for pretty good walking music. If I manage to make it up in the morning, I might do the walk again and reward myself at the Starbucks at the other end of the zoo. I also haven’t seen the new Asia Trail, but I don’t know if I want this walk to be tourism rather than exercise, I’ve really been slacking off lately.
Stupid as it is, I can feel myself going into slight anxiety mode about turning older. Can’t I just lie for another year or two?
