It’s not really shilling, since it’s no secret that I’m a friend and admirer of William’s work. I still say that if any other companies are looking for completely honest and unbiased reviews of their works, products, etc. to please feel free to send me samples! (for totally biased reviews, send me your samples plus money)
In an effort to build some awareness of his books and to work towards the goal of 1,000 true fans, William Mize has started making audiobook chapters of Resurrection Angel freely available on his website. I’m a big fan of audiobooks for my metro commute or those lazy Sunday mornings with brunch around the house, so this is very exciting. Plus, he’s done them all himself — character voices, music & sound effects — and they’re good, they really sound great. He’s done six chapters so far and has mentioned that a showing or lack of interest will help him decide whether or not to keep going.
The embedded player contains all files queued up one after the other, but here are download links for the first six chapters: Ch. 1, Ch. 2, Ch. 3, Ch. 4, Ch. 5, Ch. 6. [Lolypup, read the excerpt and if you like it, you can borrow my copy. But if I don’t get it back, I’ll cut ya. 🙂 ]
If you like what you hear, William’s given permission to share the files with friends, make them available for download, even distribute them on bittorrent. But more importantly, let him know. I’m sure he’ll appreciate your feedback.
Speaking of things in the thousands, just yesterday my blog reached 10,000 visits for 2008. I know it is far from A-List blogger’dom where they would get at least that much in a single day, but it’s a big deal for me. I can be an obsessive stats checker, so I’m happy to see friends and repeat visitors, but it’s still a little weird to see up to 100 people a day stopping by to read the folderol and gimcrackery that I post.
So for those of you that clearly have too much free time on your hands and have given me a minute or so of your idle surfing every day… thank you.
