B5/video: be somewhere else

I won’t say anything yet about the recent episode of Battlestar Galactica, but if you haven’t seen it, you have very little excuse. Both SciFi channel and Hulu have it available for viewing online the next day. There were definitely some “amazing women in Sci-Fi” moments in the show and it reminded me of another great moment from Babylon 5 in the episode Severed Dreams:

All the backstory you need is explained in the clip, and as you see there is almost no hesitation between her statement and their “response.” Right now in Battlestar as it nears the end of the series and in some way, we assume, the end of their journey you’re seeing characters showing their true core beings. And even though it should have been very obvious by now, this past episode reminded us that there is a definite equality of the sexes in their universe and no woman should be taken for granted.

But until I’m sure my chatting buddies have all seen it, I won’t say anything more. 😉

I miss Delenn. She kicks ass! So did Roslin and Kara Thrace in this week’s BSG episode.

  4. Finally saw it yesterday: wow! I love love love this show. Betcha Ron Moore’s just crazy enough to kill Adama next week, too. 🙂

And oldie but a goodie, as the saying goes.
I will still take B5 over Trek: Voyager, Trek: DS9 and Trek: Enterprise. B5 versus Trek: Next Gen is a pretty close call, with the slight edge going to B5 at the finish line.
