It seems that our nation is constantly giving me reason to whip out one of my favorite scenes from The Simpsons. One Million Moms1 has decided to rally their members against J. C. Penney… again.

One Million Moms (OMM) is disturbed that JC Penney’s (JCP) is continuing down the same path of promoting sin in their advertisements. In JCP’s June catalog, there is another homosexual ad, but this time with two dads celebrating Father’s Day.

Well done, American Family Associ–I mean, One Million Moms. JCP is playing you like a Stradivarius and you’re letting them. Still riding the wave of publicity from the “protests” against Ellen, JCP puts out another ad that they knew would hit your radar and allow you to make a statement making them look even cooler. Soon you’ll find people wanting to trigger a OMM “boycott”, like my twitter acquaintance Dale Lazarov2.

It used to be that the Father’s Day season was kicked off by the Sears Craftsman tools commercials, but maybe JCP can start a new trend. As any grammar nerd can tell you these days, it isn’t only Father’s Day anymore, but sometimes it’s also Fathers’ Day.3 However this latest e-mail from Groupon might have been taking it a little too far…
