Sheep Thrills from a Sheep Trick

Why did the sheep cross the field? Because it was being expertly herded!

These mesmerizing scenes were caught on film by aerial photographer and pilot Tim Whittaker, from New Zealand.

Whittaker has a longer video on his own channel, filmed at Hill Country Farming in the Rangitikei District in New Zealand.

sheep herding demonstration

I’ve seen sheep herding demonstrations before, but only on the small scale at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. It would wonderful to see a team of trained dogs, stampeding the wee animals from field to field, squeezing through what seem to be quite narrow enclosures between each one!

Still though, farming. I love animals, but that life is SO not for me. It does give me pause about having/wanting pets though, especially living in the city. I love animals, but it seems like doing them a slight disservice, only having so much room to run around in and rarely being allowed to really run free. Though I guess with cars whizzing around, that’s for the best.
