5.1: Struck in DC

In the time I’ve lived here, I have seen DC become more populated by cars while at the same time appearing to become a less car-friendly city. I don’t mean that the city’s government and infrastructure is hostile to vehicle owners and drivers, simply that the city seems to already have reached its critical mass in terms of being able to accommodate as many drivers as we have.

5.1: FixWMATA

If you live or work in the DC area, chances are you’ve used Metro–bus or rail–to get where you’re going in the city. I’ve lived in the area for nearly 15 years now and there was only a 3-month period...

events: Rock ‘n’ Roar

The 80s never die… we just fail to admit they ever existed. Except when it comes to music and I am sorely tempted by the upcoming Rock ‘n’ Roar event at The National Zoo next month: Come hear the B-52s...

random: forgotten

It’s said that DC is a very small place and it’s so true. Especially for those that have chosen to make this place their home and aren’t just passing through. My friends often joke that I run into my ex’s...

books: Go the F**k to Sleep

The much talked about–and pirated, apparently–book, Go the Fuck to Sleep is now available on Amazon. Cleverly masquerading as a children’s book, it’s clearly for the exasperated parent to have a good laugh with and perhaps give as a gift...

museums: NBM no longer free

Just seen on twitter: National Building Museum executive director Chase W. Rynd today announced a change to the Museum’s policy regarding admission, which has been free since its opening in 1985 as a private, non-profit institution. Starting Monday, June 27,...
