Friday, I’m in Love: Cupcakes!

Happy New Year!… if a bit late, and happy returns… to blogging? Been a bit of a rough year, but there’s no way to get back to writing than to just do it! And what better way to do that...

spring: tweet… tweet… HONK!

As prepared as I was for the return of Spring, I hadn’t quite accounted for the birds.

blog: still here!

So yeah, it’s been a long time, huh? Shaking out the cobwebs, trying some new digs, and mostly trying to convince myself that people are still visiting this blog for posts other than the SNL Justin Timberlake and Beyonce sketch.

Sakuramen in Adams Morgan

Mention “ramen” to most people and you’ll get a weird look followed by “you mean the stuff in the cup?” or others might remember the college days when your “pantry” consisted of packets of Kool-Aid and instant ramen noodles since...

in DC: A Charlie Brown Christmas

A Charlie Brown Christmas listening party, that is! All of Guaraldi’s music for the various Charlie Brown specials is amazing, but the Christmas album is one that I will listen to any time of the year without ever thinking it’s...

in DC: Run Run Run!

Running for a train, I can understand completely… but running OFF of a train and potentially knocking down other commuters in the process? S’wrong with you?

I’ve taken to walking in the early morning after checking into the office. Our building is right next to The Yards Park and Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, so when it’s nice enough outside, there’s never a lack of great scenery. This morning was no exception.

Cocktails @ Bourbon Steak DC

My love for Bourbon Steak DC is no secret, but we typically go for lunch or dinner, only spending a few minutes at the bar while waiting for our entire party to arrive. DC: Beat the Heat with a Free Frozen Treat!

There are two things I know people in DC love doing, one is griping about the heat and the other is getting free stuff. So how about a great way to combine both of those into one activity!

This week in DC, the Climate Reality Project is partnering with Pleasant Pops to provide a little relief from the heat by offering free frozen treats to help raise awareness about climate change.

in DC: AIDS Quilt @ NBM

In case you missed seeing it at the recent Smithsonian Folklife Festival because you were wisely staying inside and out of the heat1, the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be on display at the National Building Museum later this month. In...

photo: prophet of the long road

Wednesday night is our standing “ürb is tired of cooking, so we’re going out to eat” night, and often we can rope a friend or two into joining us. We were lucky enough to have some amazingly non-humid weather, so...

in DC: Dark Knight Tumbler Tour

I confess1 that for all my love of comic books, I am not really all that into the latest incarnation of Batman movies, The Dark Knight trilogy. I like Batman, but something about the movies just doesn’t do it for...

etiquette: XYZ?

So I’m riding the train to work last Wednesday and this happens… Informed fellow commuter his fly was undone. Does that count as my good deed for the day? #fb — urban bohemian (@urbanbohemian) April 25, 2012 The man was–more...

in DC: metro seat hog blues

So it’s already Monday, right? I made it halfway to the metro station when I realized I forgot my phone. I go back upstairs to get it and just as I lock the door, realized I forgot one other thing.1...
