in DC: A Charlie Brown Christmas

A Charlie Brown Christmas listening party, that is! All of Guaraldi’s music for the various Charlie Brown specials is amazing, but the Christmas album is one that I will listen to any time of the year without ever thinking it’s...

in DC: Run Run Run!

Running for a train, I can understand completely… but running OFF of a train and potentially knocking down other commuters in the process? S’wrong with you?

photo: catch the sun

I’ve taken to walking in the early morning after checking into the office. Our building is right next to The Yards Park and Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, so when it’s nice enough outside, there’s never a lack of great scenery. This morning was no exception.

Cocktails @ Bourbon Steak DC

My love for Bourbon Steak DC is no secret, but we typically go for lunch or dinner, only spending a few minutes at the bar while waiting for our entire party to arrive. Mostly that was tactical since as some of our bunch are lightweights, indulging in a smattering of cocktails before our dinner would have them passing out before the entrees arrived!

in DC: It is dark.

Good morning and Happy Hump Day to all! The boy and I are used to leaving the house early enough that we beat the sunrise, and even though we’re used to going to work in the dark, this isn’t exactly what I planned on.

DC: Beat the Heat with a Free Frozen Treat!

There are two things I know people in DC love doing, one is griping about the heat and the other is getting free stuff. So how about a great way to combine both of those into one activity!

in DC: metro seat hog blues

So it’s already Monday, right? I made it halfway to the metro station when I realized I forgot my phone. I go back upstairs to get it and just as I lock the door, realized I forgot one other thing.1...

ads: bad timing?

I kept noticing this ad for DC Takes On HIV in the Columbia Heights metro station for the past week: When I visit my doctor, I Ask For The Test. It’s not just for me. It’s because I care about...

photos: Cold-War Chic?

I feel like I should give this photo an appropriately vintage’d sepia filter and edit a TARDIS into the background. We headed down to the Spy Museum on a surprisingly brisk–almost chilly–morning to see the finest in German Cold-War Era...
