(minor) stalking pays!
I was running a little later than usual this morning getting out of the house for work (thanks to last night’s indulgences) and one thing that I rarely mind about being late is that the crowd on the train is usually very different and offers new opportunities for people watching and eye candy.
This morning there was this guy and he’s looking all cute, wearing blue, glasses, mp3 player. So I found myself looking, and he looked back. I read my Express and looked again, smiled a bit, and the look and smile were returned. This is where my mind starts getting all surly because there’s no etiquette for metro train meeting/cruising. We continued for a few more stops, clearly there was surface interest but he got off at a station before mine and even off the train he looked once or twice more but then the doors closed and we were both on our way.
I took the gamble and wrote up a missed connections ad on craigslist (I won’t link to it, if you can find it, more power to ya). After he left, I jotted down some details on the back of my Express so I’d remember it later and I think the ad was specific enough that he’d know it was for him. I always wonder how many of those ads are written and they aren’t quite detailed enough for people to know it’s really about them. I posted it shortly after I got to the office, added a photo of myself and figured Fate would handle the rest. It was a tedious day at the office today, fixing broken links on the sites, I didn’t hear any response to my ad, so I figured maybe he’s not a craigslist reader (I know that I rarely am) or maybe it was just metro flirting and it ends there, or any number of reasons for it to be a dead end…
So this evening, he e-mailed me back, fortune favors the bold.
