true love? let’s check your saliva!

My distaste for eHarmony and their endless stream of sickening commercials is already well known, but a new service seems to take it one step further. GenePartner matches men and women by analyzing their DNA.

I couldn’t find any information on their site explaining either that they only match men and women or why they don’t match same-sex couples. I find it funny that one site uses religion while another uses science to say what Marge Simpson has said all along, “Girls, Lisa. Boys kiss girls.”

An interesting observation regarding one of those eHarmony commercials.
There’s one where the man and the woman are next to each other, holding hands, making goo-goo eyes, and going on about how compatible they are and how they totally accept each other, and then the camera pulls back and she’s STANDING ON A BOX.
Was she too short for eHarmony’s commercial standards? Or was he too tall?
It’s hardly unconditional acceptance when your girlfriend has to stand on a box to make the camera shot look good.
I thought it highly ironic, but that’s just me.

I wonder if the DNA thing is closet eugenics.

what’s wrong with eugenics, at least when practiced on a local scale? If a couple could know that they’d produce a retarded kid and avoid it, or even better engineer a better kid, why wouldn’t they? We’re using pharmaceuticals and biologics to change the way we think feel live eat breathe and die. Why not how and what we reproduce? Where should that end?

Brian, Brian, Brian, I swear, sometimes I just don’t know what to do with you!

eHarmony is totally based on science. It says so right there in the disclaimer! It says that it’s based on a scientifically figured out thingermajiggy … I don’t understand any of it, but it forces me to believe it. I mean, they took the time to write it and put it on the Internet, so it must be true!!

Now, repeat after me and bang your head against the wall until you pass out from blood loss, and you’ll be just fine
