Simon Pegg as Montgomery Scott in the new Star Trek trailer

A new Star Trek trailer is out and people are buzzing about it on the interwebs. I haven’t been all that jazzed about it because frankly I’m sick of the remakes. I feel like either we’ve exhausted all new creativity and no one wants to admit it… Or people are just lazy.

But it does have Simon Pegg playing a probably even cheekier Scotty than Doohan could. That alone might make it worth watching. And when all’s said, it is pretty badass. It’s just weird to watch a prequel that looks more technologically badass than the original story it’s preceding. (Yes Enterprise, I’m looking in your direction.)

Higher quality trailers are at Apple, and with the miracle of Quicktime about 2/3 into it you can advance the frame back and forth to see Spock and Kirk give each other Brokeback Eyes before Spock apparently tries to beat the crap out of him. Buttsex Subtext, FTW.

Hey, you watch the film for what you wanna see, and I’ll watch for what I wanna see. Much like Jadzia Dax, however, I am developing a fondness for Quinto’s Spock. Must be the clean-shavenness. He doesn’t have the power of super-sexy-permastubble like Ramamurthy on Heroes.

I agree about getting tired of all the “re-imagining” BS, but I have to admit I think this is going to be pretty amazing, if for no other reason than the clever casting choices they made.

    1. John Cho as Sulu should be very fun.

    2. Sendhil Ramamurthy is the most gorgeous thing on television right now. Period.

Well even tho I am not thrilled at the prospect of a “re-imagined” Star Trek, the trailer did seem exciting!! Quinto’s Spock does intrigue me. Did you see the shirtless Sylar last nite? Yumm…

There is no way I’ll be able to watch it, no matter how badly my father wants to… talk about being typecast!

I have to admit it looks great, though I haven’t been a fan of Abram’s other stuff.

Was that Zoe Saldana taking off her uniform?!
I mean, I’ll be there at the midnight showing anyway, but that would just be extra, um, incentive.
    That is all.
