metro: new DC Circulator routes!

Turns out that once again, I’m not crazy.* When I saw some DC Circulator buses heading through my neighborhood this past weekend, I thought they were working as shuttles to help with Marathon crowds. Apparently not.

Circulator Now Connects More DC Neighborhoods! Service begins March 29, 2009

The DC Circulator is thrilled to announce two new routes: Union Station – Navy Yard Metro and Woodley Park – Adams Morgan – McPherson Square Metro, starting service March 29th.

The new routes will operate in addition to the three original routes Circulator runs— providing greater connection for area residents and employees, businesses, and visitors to the multitude of cultural, nightlife, dining and shopping opportunities our neighborhoods offer.

Their Routes Map now reflects the new lines and this morning at 10:30am at 18th/Columbia/Adams Mill Road NW, there’ll be a press conference with Adrian Fenty, Jim Graham & DDOT Director Gabe Klein among others.

When I worked atop L’Enfant Plaza metro, I used to really enjoy taking the Circulator over to Gallery Place with co-workers for a quicker–and more pleasant than metro–trip to get lunch. Still, it will be interesting to see if they can maintain that “every 10 minutes” promise, especially the Adams Morgan route once evening traffic starts to set in.
