I don’t have the words, no snappy title, no exuberant jokes. I’m stunned and still stunned over yesterday. I tried to write something a few times, just to capture my feelings, and every time I tried I was near tears. My birthday’s in a few days and I’ll always look back and know this happened this week. We think we’re untouchable, and I know that there are a lot of terrorist attacks that are stopped that the American people never know about, but why not this one? And why don’t we know who’s responsible yet? Bush is talking tough, sure, but I want to see some action.
This morning I drove in, on the advice of a co-worker, ‘cos she knew I felt so uncomfortable taking the metro home yesterday. Even so I had to drive past the Pentagon, and saw the billowing clouds of smoke in the sky. It nearly tore me up in the car.
There’s nothing I can say here that people don’t already know, it was very reassuring to have messages and calls from my family and friends, and to know that everyone I care about that’s even close to the affected areas is all right. It may sound hokey, but even if it’s a friend you haven’t spoken to in a long while, call up the people that you care about and tell them. You never know when you won’t have that chance anymore.
