DVD Copying Software Ruled Illegal
Now the last time I was at Best Buy, the shelves were packed with copies of this and I saw at least 5 people take a copy to buy. Though I do admit I like the quote from Jack Valenti.. even if he’s a smug bastard about it: “If you buy a DVD you have a copy. If you want a backup copy you buy another one.”
Just like the other arenas, the genie is already out of the bottle. Then again, it’s one thing to market DVD creation/file backup software, it’s quite another say “make copies of your dvds so you can ‘preserve’ the originals!” and expect that to go over without raising any eyebrows.
