I may lose some geek creds…

As much as I love the movies, I’m glad that the hype of the Lord of the Rings movies didn’t extend to automatically making its actors seem like gods of the silver screen. The Oscar nominations were announced and the Best/Supporting Actor and Actress positions are pleasantly devoid of ‘on location in New Zealand’ spots.
Not that we don’t need more science fiction and fantasy movies out there, but it would be nice if there were some with performances in them that would make even the most hardcore anti-fan weep.
I also harbor some deep resentment that certain Babylon 5 or Deep Space Nine episodes never got noticed for any Acting Emmys, it’s like Science Fiction/Fantasy can only have good makeup, music and special effects. Leave the acting at home kids, the audience just wants to ooh and ah. *hmph*
