VA, anti-gay. Gay I DO’s are through.

Virginia Question 1: Marriage Amendment

Ballot Question One

Shall Article I (the Bill of Rights) of the Constitution of Virginia be amended to state:

“That only a union between one man and one woman may be a marriage valid in or recognized by this Commonwealth and its political subdivisions.

This Commonwealth and its political subdivisions shall not create or recognize a legal status for relationships of unmarried individuals that intends to approximate the design, qualities, significance, or effects of marriage. Nor shall this Commonwealth or its political subdivisions create or recognize another union, partnership, or other legal status to which is assigned the rights, benefits, obligations, qualities, or effects of marriage.”?

57% feel that a state constitutional amendment is necessary to protect marriage by denying it to gays. Okey dokey then… Virginia’s off the list for … well everything, potential places to move, vacation spots, I can’t say shopping for certain yet but I’ve been doing pretty well so far at keeping out of there. I wonder if they can officially change their slogan to “Virginia is for STRAIGHT Lovers” (yes, old joke I know, but timely).

And because I feel I have to end on a somewhat humorous and strange note, here’s a YouTube capture of last Sunday’s “American Dad” where Stan ends up at the Log Cabin Republicans: “We’re Red and We’re Gay!”, funny and disturbing (and frankly as songs go, not their most consistent work).
