ads: are y’all even still together?
Thanks to TiVo*, I don’t see that many ads anymore, but this one always cracks me up:
“It’s the 34th time this year…” The other ads in the series are cute and ride that fine line of awkwardness that’s made office-based shows so popular. I did try Vitamin Water 10 and the artificial sweetener makes the drinks a little too sweet for me. But it was a smart move on their part to try lowering the calorie count on something with “water” in the name of the product.
The only other ad campaigns on my radar right now are those for Syke #9 and the Volvo XC60 ad because I like the song in it.** Other commercials aren’t entertaining or memorable enough right now.
* They still get bad marks for stuff like this, however. I paid for the DVR and for a lifetime subscription. That should be enough to exempt me from seeing extra ads all over the place.
** So much so that I tracked down the single and bought it.
Those Volvo ads make me want to hurt something. They’re too cutesy, too annoyingly, well, Scandanavian.
Oddly enough, the most interesting commercials these days are the anti-pot commercials. They finally figured out that scare tactics didn’t work, and went with a message of non-conformity. Don’t know if they actually reduce pot usage, but the commercials are much better than they used to be.
