16th Annual DC Shorts Film Festival

156 films from the international film circuit to screen Sept. 19 – 28, 2019

DC Shorts International Film Festival and Screenplay Competition, the award-winning, internationally recognized film festival held every September in Washington, D.C. is thrilled to announce the 2019 lineup of short films comprised of 19 Official Selection Showcases and 11 Special Interest Showcases.

“The art of storytelling through film flourishes at DC Shorts 2019, reflecting an inclusive range of diverse narratives presenting eye-opening views to their world while giving you the opportunity to find yourself within them.” stated Joe Bilancio, DC Shorts Director of Programming. “We’re excited for a very sweet 16th year highlighting the many viewpoints and landscapes from five continents. Film aficionados and festival newbies alike will treasure the tapestry of humanity presented.”

This year’s films were selected from more than 1,250 submissions, with the final 156 Official Selections representing 36 countries, 48 female filmmakers and four “World Premieres.”

Special Interest Showcases:

Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office. The four Filmmaker Workshops are free and open to the public, but registration is required. For those unable to join in-person, the Online Film Festival offers many of the films to the public accessible through computers, smart phones and tablets for the duration of the festival. This year, more than 97 films are available.
