music: sharin’ the seasonal tunes
I completely forgot to mention yesterday, if you don’t happen to have a collection of alternative* holiday music, check out SomaFM’s Christmas Lounge (iTunes/Windows Media)
I’ve been streaming it at work from time to time and at home to get a little variety from what I already have–though after clicking a few of their playlist links, there’s a lot of overlap now.
My office “holiday” parties often involve the same guy playing DJ and whipping out one CD of “Greatest R&B Christmas Hits” and one CD of “Christmas Classics”. I’d love to stream Christmas Lounge, or perhaps pop in Merry Mixmas or Verve Remixed Christmas
, just once.
* I don’t mean alt-rock, alt-pop or whatever the hell they turned “alternative” into after my late teens.
I’ve been keeping my eyes open for a decent CD with a collection of classic hits by the original artists. The ones I find are either covers, or have one classic and a bunch of crap. I’m thinking of giving in and buying singles online to compile the perfect CD for myself, but that would require me being all 21st century and stuff. 🙂
