Rosebud Film Festival 25th Anniversary

Update: Due to the impending snow storm the 2016 Rosebud Film Festival will be postponed to January 30-31, 2016.

Rosebud Film Festival Rosebud Film Festival, “The District’s festival for local independent filmmakers” according to the Washington Post, will showcase the area’s best budding moviemakers. Since 1990 the Rosebud Film Festival, put on by Arlington Independent Media (AIM), has been an annual competition open exclusively to DC, Maryland and Virginia film and video producers. From its beginning, 25 years ago, Rosebud has always honored the innovative, experimental, unusual and deeply personal in creative film and video making. This year’s festival will take place on January 23rd at the Naval Heritage Center. The following day, January 24th, will play host to the Rosebud Awards Gala at the Clarendon Ballroom, where winners of the festival will be announced and be awarded $1000 prizes.

“Attending Rosebud is a great way for folks to show their support for the area’s independent film and video community, but it’s also a way to enjoy and experience some truly exceptional films,” says Rosebud Film Festival Director, Kevin Sampson. The festival will feature a twenty-film slate taking place over 5 and ½ hours, beginning at 2pm and ending at 7:30pm. “For our 25th anniversary we are offering a $15.00 pass which will allow access to films all day long, whether you pop in and out or want to stay all day,” says Sampson.

A panel of judges, drawn from the DMV media arts community, selected the 20 nominees and five winners, including one Best of Show. Festival winners will each receive a $1,000 cash prize and will be announced at the Rosebud Awards Gala on Sunday January 24th.
