Mid-Century Modern: 1951 Armstrong Flooring Catalog
I’ve always had a fondness for the mid-century modern era’s ability to create an alternate “perfect reality” in their ads. Check out these delightful pictures from the 1951 Armstrong Flooring Catalog from flickr user mcudeque.
A better idea for family recreation. This room leads a happy double life.
A better place to entertain. Parties are gay in a room like this.
A better use of space and color. A colorful room for a modern house.
I love the use of color and the complete lack of people while still including things people would be doing. Hors d’oeuvres are still out, tables are set, drinks with straws at the ready. It’s almost like you’re in a Fallout game wandering through people’s homes after they all evacuated to the vaults!
