… 3-ring …
Boston Globe Online | Media circus opens in D.C., I know I should immediately lump myself in with the bitter grumpy anti-newsies, but it’s really hard when my day is constantly interrupted by well-dressed, but appropriately rumpled for effect, manicured little news-bots telling the public absolutely nothing new. Or even worse trying to put out new information for fear of being scooped, and then having that information turn out to be wrong. So maybe I’m unamerican, but I don’t want to be constantly updated on nothing, like a Winter Olympics report during a blizzard on the grounds. Oh and I’m also unamerican at work because I’m unwilling to keep up with the emotional rollercoaster people here go through. I don’t think it’s funny to make jokes about the killings, so I don’t laugh and am told to lighten up, and then when people are all huddled around distressed and concerned about another shooting, I also don’t join the little hug or prayer circle either (which probably makes them think I’m the sniper). People are dying, this isn’t a matter for frivolity. Let the police do their job, since I’d hate to see them miss a lead or vital piece of information ‘cos they were too busy worrying about what they were going to tell the swarm of cameras and reporters following them around.
