This is Your America…

This will teach me to pay more attention in the mornings. I was coming off of the metro, listening to my music and kind of in my own world, as are many who walk the same path every morning, and I nearly bump into/am knocked over by two police officers, definitely dressed for trouble, each with a semi-automatic weapon just a hair larger than my briefcase.
They were actually really polite, and apologized, but still, it scared the bejeezus outta me. Behind them were two more officers, one with a sniffing dog and the other unarmed.
It makes me think of all those shows and interviews I’d hear growing up about how the previous generations fought so that later generations would have a better life and freedom.. yadda, yadda, yadda.
