tiny minds and color lines
Since I posted a funny, now it’s time for something disturbing. Jenifer pointed out this headline to me today: Bennett Under Fire for Remark on Crime and Black Abortions, here’s the Post story and the CNN story.
[William J.] Bennett, who held prominent posts in the administrations of former presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush, told a caller to his syndicated radio talk show Wednesday: “If you wanted to reduce crime, you could — if that were your sole purpose — you could abort every black baby in this country and your crime rate would go down.
“That would be an impossibly ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down,” he said.
She said, “He and [Rev. Willie Wilson] — who also stands by his crapass comments — should go bowling, but I’m betting it wouldn’t work out.” I really don’t have much to say, at least nothing constructive to put in print. As I’ve said, say what you want, but consider how it will be received, especially considering recent events. And hell the Million Man March II is just around the corner, it is not the right time to be saying such things if you expect to make a living off your words.
I love it when people make me embarrassed to live in this country.
Love you.
was unbelievable to hear the news about this, and then to hear the clip afterwards. this is a man who wrote a book on virtue, and was the secretary for education???
anyway. i hope you feel better. cheers.
