Light, Refracted.
A small coffee break to post about the rainbow we got in DC after a quick shower moved through the city. I looked out my window and saw the perfect unbroken double arc outside. So I naturally grabbed my camera and ran (literally) down seven flights of stairs only to find out that the view from the street was crap because of buildings.
By the time I got back upstairs, a cloud had obscured the middle bit, so I was only able to take pics of either side and then watch it slowly recede into the cloudbank, but it was definitely the most vivid and clear rainbow I’d ever seen. Luckily, Fredo got a better picture of it, with his iPhone no less! 🙂
Of the tons that I’ve seen on flickr though, I think this one is my favorite.
Ah I saw it yesterday too at Dupont circle, but only half of it because of buildings. It was so funny to see everyone looking in one direction wide-eyed, and then watch everyone else who was walking away from the rainbow notice everyone else looking, stop, turn around, and gape. Beautiful.
Aw, how purty! I never see rainbows in Atlanta. God hates us. 👿
@OhMyHeart: That sounds lovely, I wish someone had gotten a picture of the DC masses locked into a position of childlike wonderment.
@Neal: Yes… yes s/he does. I actually remember seeing rainbows as a child, so clearly it’s my leaving that did it. Perhaps I’m 1/16 leprechaun on my mother’s side.
