holiday music: a unicorn in the veldt?
I don’t generally go for holiday music. If I forget to bring in something good, I might resort to a Pandora station based around some jazzy or piano holiday tunes. My usual fallback is Christmas Cocktails 1 and 2, with a bit of A Charlie Brown Christmas thrown in. Yesterday Amazon had a $1.99 deal on a digital version Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas and it seemed like a worthy addition to the holiday listening shelf. I have absolutely no explanation for the cover art and wikipedia is no help either.
It’s a really good album, and as usual I get all wistful and sigh-filled when What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? plays. Mainly because I haven’t been doing something with someone else for New Year’s Eve in quite some time, but oh well. The album’s a nice way to fill the morning and I suspect that it will go well with a bottle or two of wine when I’m visiting the folks. Oh yeah, I should make sure to have some wine sent home before I arrive.
Two things that make a holiday great: Sinatra Christmas music and TBS’s “24 hours of A Christmas Story”.
Oh, and as you mentioned, a lot of wine.
