queer: Denial FAIL!

Update to this entry, it appears to be a hoax, please see the footnote.

Kyle shared this on Facebook, from FAIL Blog: Denial FAIL:

I’m concerned that my son has a secret girlfriend?

My 17 year old son has been very secretive with me lately, recently he has started to refuse to go to church with the family and tonight when I was going through his room I found a magazine with naked men in it. He obviously has a girlfriend that he is hiding from me that brought that magazine into my home and I am afraid they are having intercourse and I am greatly concerned that he is going to get her pregnant.

What should I do about this?

Seeing it there made me laugh so hard I nearly swallowed my gum. I then dug around the net to find it and turns out, it’s still up on Yahoo! Answers*. The original question was updated to respond to those that were trying to say the only obvious thing here is that your son is gay. The denial runs deep.

It’s both so sad that one must laugh and just plain sad. The comments are typical internet fare that one should expect when bible meets queer, but coming away from it I hope that the kid will realize his crappy situation and find a way out of there. Still, I have to bless the wonders of the internet because every day this mother returns to lash out on this page, maybe that’s one more day the kid won’t wind up in reparative therapy.

People are funny… scary funny. 😯

* I feel a bit of a fool for not having even more scrutiny on this one. The FAIL Blog screenshot says “Your Open Question” meaning that the screenshot submitted to the blog was taken by the person that submitted the question. It’s a case of internet baiting, which I don’t truck with. I’ve changed the link to Google’s cached version of the page and I’ve created a PDF of the page and subsequent comments.

The worse part of this is the added part where the mother says he is NOT homosexual we have taught him what God says. This severely irritates me! My family is this way. They think that I am going to hell because I’m gay which is against God’s word. Well, I didn’t choose this, someone made me this way and well, it’s God the one who knew me and formed me in my mother’s womb? So umm, hmm. Yeah… Anyway, that’s my two cents worth. 😀

Of course, this thing is both hilarious and sad.

The thing that still gets me just really very angry about the whole fundamentalists versus homosexuals paradigm is that it harms so many people for no good reason. It’s an unnecessary war brought on by power-hungry leaders of the Religious Right, and it claims victims on both sides when parents and their kids become alienated from each other.

Oh dear, that is just tragic. Funny, but tragic.

We watched “Prayers for Bobby” over the weekend. Very nicely done film, and nice to know that some bigots can change.

Where the hell is Abigail when you need her????

So he’s not homosexual because she deems it so and because it goes against the bible? I feel so sorry for this kid when he finally comes out to his obviously closed minded mother (we all know how well the abstinence only education worked for Sarah Palin’s daughter).

And we all know we straight women go around with a magazine full of naked men in our purses.
