TGIF: …their brains start working

Looks like our office will be getting another special visitor this afternoon. Sadly, they sent out the notice about this at around 5:30 last night. Most of the Feds at my site are early birds and usually outta here by 5, so most everyone only found out about it this morning.

Ford Prefect’s theory about humans seems to hold true today. Everyone upon coming into the office has remarked, “You know the First Lady’s going to be here, right?” — Well, we were here ahead of you so… yeah, we know. — “You see they’ve blocked off the entrances?” — We were here ahead of you so… yeah. — “You know the First Lady’s going to be here right?” — *starts wondering the grounds for pleading a crime passionnel*

Not that it isn’t a big deal, but as a resident of DC, I have the next 4–at least–to see this administration in the city, usually blocking off traffic.*

* Plus, it’s standing room only, first-come, first-admitted, the queue to enter opens at 11am for a 1:30pm event. Exciting as it is, I’m pretty sure my bosses would rather see me at my desk… y’know, working.

Seriously, I’ve almost started avoiding Farragut altogether on my way home… it took me 20 minutes to cross the square once!

Based on the inane conversations I’ve heard on the Metro, I agree with Ford.
