tv/video: Jamie Goes West
Just watched a very cute–and ultimately cheeky–ad for Jamie Oliver’s new Channel4 series Jamie’s American Road Trip this morning.
From cowboys to alligator hunters, and ex-gang members to high-society ladies, Jamie Oliver wants to discover the real heart of America, through its people, culture, music and–most importantly–its food.
Seriously, the end is harmlessly risqué but if your office IT department is run by humorless puritans, you’re better off watching it elsewhere*:

Early last month he started posting pictures to his twitpic account of himself in various outfits for a shoot to advertise an upcoming book. The underlying theme became obvious fairly quickly.
It sounds like a fun–if not overused–concept for a show, so it will be interesting to see if it makes it over here to either Food Network or BBC America. Even though it doesn’t sound that much different than what many shows on our food and/or travel networks already do. It’s just that Jamie Oliver’s a lot more about having fun and cooking… and very easy on the eyes. 😀 He’s done other series that haven’t made it to the states yet, so I’ll just have to wait and see.
* Not sure if one can spoil a commercial, but the ending features ass-less chaps showing off exactly what they’re meant to.
† Favorite bit aside from the sea salt sprinkle: “So, why are you dressed as The Village People?” — “The what?”
Oh, thank you so much. That’s just the shot of amusement the doctor ordered.
Let’s hope and pray it will be on BBC America soon. They really need to stop the How Clean is Your House re-runs.
