time: not a good look!
Y’know, I was feeling pretty good this morning… I haven’t been picking up Express* lately as I was finishing off a book**, but this morning thought I might try to challenge my brain with the Sudoku puzzle at the hard level of difficulty.
After staring at the puzzle*** for over three stops without placing a single digit, I gave up and worked my way through the “lookout” section backwards… like you do and shortly hit the Blog Log. I’ve been seeing some local friends’ blogs mentioned in it, and it can be a nice way to see what’s happening that others are talking about and I’ve missed.
I’ve been featured in it before, but usually some silly little throwaway line or something out of context, or worse when I’ve quoted something else that they mistakenly attributed to me. Well not today!
As I said, I was feeling pretty good this morning. The reminder of yesterday’s angst attacking staring back at me from the printed page was… unsettling. I get to say that I may be getting too fat****, you don’t get to quote me that I said it! Or something like that. π
* Or telling the Examiner guy “No, thank you.”
** Yes, I read books. The fact that this book was last year’s birthday gift is… unimportant.
*** And a very attractive fellow passenger.
**** Among other things.
Oh, you know you like the attention π

Don’t listen to them! I wouldn’t want to be quoted either like that and the context is missing. Anyhow, it reminds me of the Sex and the City episode where Carrie Bradshaw gets profiled for a cover article as “30-Something and Fabulous,” only to find that it was printed with “30-Something and Fabulous?” and the most unflattering photo of the shoot. Definitely out of context.

It’s times like this that make me glad I’ve never been quoted (to my knowledge) in Express.

@Shindo: “That question mark is hostile!”

I was also reminded of the SATC episode that shindo mentioned above…don’t worry, you are fabulous, without the question mark.
At least they quoted you correctly. My experience is that they usually mess it up. Heck, Herb of DC was given credit for a blog entry that was actually one of MY comments.

Congrats on the (mixed) blessing that is being quoted by the Express. π
