food: DC Food Bloggers Spooktacular Bake Sale
Anyone up for a bake sale? The DC Food Bloggers are preparing their best baked goods for you!
We all remember bake sales back in the day where you put your faith in the–often last-minute–cooking talents of some kids’ moms. You’d peruse the items, perhaps lingering over the best looking homemade brownies or chocolate chip cookies… But what you were really looking for was that one mom that always made the Rice Krispies treats or the table that wasn’t even trying to pretend they had any baking talent and just went out and bought cupcakes from the local bakery or grocery store.
Well this bake sale is being supplied and staffed by some local food bloggers, so you know the items are going to be top notch! All the proceeds go to benefit Martha’s Table. Also planned that day for the market is a costume contest (kids & adults) with prizes including gift certificates from Biaggio Chocolates, Cork Market and Mid City Cafe and many, many more!
The 14th & U St Farmers Market is just a block away from the U Street-Cardozo metro station on the Green Line. The 14th Street (52, 53 & 54) Line passes right by it as well as the Woodley Park/Adams Morgan/McPherson Square Circulator.
Since my oven is still pretty untested, I’ve volunteered to help set up and maybe sell, so you’ll see me there, just not my wares. So come on out, meet some DC food bloggers and help a good local cause.
Pass it on! Post it to Facebook, tell your friends, plan a brunch in the area and swing by the market beforehand. Or at the least, come by in the morning for your treat since many of you will have already had your trick the night before. 😉
I especially liked the Rice Krispies treats with M&M’s in them! Yummmm! This should be a blast!

All I want to know is, will those yummy things you posted on Flickr make it to the bake sale? Because if so, I’m there.
I know this may be by the DC Food bloggers, but if I get down there, I am still looking for the one table with the rice krispie treats!
Oh we’ll have Rice Krispies treats! Food bloggers aren’t always high gourmet…hell, I eat marshmallow fluff from the jar.
