culture: twitter “welcomes” Kanye
As noted by TechCrunch, last year after the Taylor Swift fiasco, Kanye West couldn’t be bothered with twitter and was annoyed–to say the least–by all the fake accounts that popped up to mock him. Well clearly he’s come around on the idea as a newly minted–and verified–Kanye West account arrived on the scene today:
Up early in the morning taking meetings in Silicone Valley
While I’m sure some were skeptical of the account, once it was verified in a few online news sources and by twitter, the inevitable happened. Check out the results of the search for “@KanyeWest finish”.
While I’m sure he’s above all the haters, Kanye’s going to learn–for a little while, anyway–that the internet never forgets and social media never forgives.
Off-hand, I remember ‘The Difference Engine’ saying that the engines have long memories. Not just a steampunk concept, but the Internet has a very long memory. Good luck Kanye, Palin, and the others who wized up to social media when it’s too late. And good luck to Perez, who never, ever wises up when it comes to this stuff.
