Ok, that was unexpected
I was just IM’ing with friends and cleaning up the house when my brother called. It was the usual hi/how ya doing and then he asked about the iPhone, if I got one (no), why I didn’t get one (cost/coverage), and we talked about it for a bit.
Then he asks, “So do you want one?” And I said of course I do. Turns out he’s going to get a nice sum of money from an insurance settlement for a recent motorcycle accident, and he’s thinking of buying himself one and buying me one. His reasoning: he’ll get free family iPhone tech support for life… and he’s absolutely right!
Now I don’t know if this will actually happen, and I did tell him regardless to wait a while before buying, but how cool is that?! I told him that only he could turn getting knocked on his ass into an opportunity. So while I won’t hold my breath, I may actually be getting an iPhone… and it will remove the burden of him having to (forget to) buy me birthday and xmas gifts for a few years. 😀

Speak of brotherly love. That is really cool of your brother to offer you an iPhone when he gets one. But, should this be his “get out of future gifts” card free? 😀
I stopped worrying about getting presents from my brother a long time ago. He’ll probably get an himself an iPhone when the first generation bugs are worked out. I’ll have to get my own if that time comes.
Considering the gifts I usually get from him, I’m happy to exempt him from the effort for life.
