video: cross-dressing… for SCIENCE!!
Another Friday, another homoerotic moment from Mythbusters! The Build Team is fast becoming my favorite part of the show. I think the antics of Adam & Jamie are starting to wear thin, and the Build Team seems to get the more fun myths and/or experiments to test. The following clip is when they were testing the myth that if someone was wearing an underwire bra while med techs were using defibrillator paddles, would there be an electrical arc? Of course to test it, they had to find a bra that would fit their ballistics gel dummy…

Ten years ago when we were at the Tibetan Freedom concert at RFK, Lysa Selfon was struck by lightning which they said was attracted to her underwire bra. Even if it wasn’t, the metal in the bra certainly didn’t help since it most likely caused her cardiac arrest. Thankfully she’s ok today, but that was a hell of a thing and probably the closest I’ve ever been to a lightning strike. We were outside when it happened, but nowhere near the section she was in. It sounded like a gunshot or explosion and the next thing you knew, everyone was running for shelter.
I think they called this one Plausible (or possibly Busted) since they didn’t get an arc until they distressed the bra so that the actual wire was exposed and touching the paddle. Pretty unlikely. I can’t help but notice that Tory Belleci seems to be the first to not only try to hurt himself on the show, but mostly the first one willing to take his shirt off for whatever reason. No real complaints there, but I think out of all the guys on the show, Jamie Hyneman still wins for best build. But if they need to do an episode comparing both Tory and Jamie in hot shorts on a treadmill, I’d certainly be willing to watch. For science, of course… SCIENCE. 😈
Is Jamie blinding you with science?
It could happen, we just need to suggest a myth that involves sweat….
…or wrestling…
…or… 😈
@kyle: You have no idea how many times a day I have to resist the urge to shout out SCIENCE!! Between the co-workers that are: too young, too old or have a complete lack of pop-cultural knowledge, they’d probably lock me up.
@Michael: Joey, do you like movies about gladiators? 😆
