culture war: did Colbert humble Kanye?

Props to Hello, Negro for pointing out that I need to watch The Colbert Report. The last episode I watched in full was when Amy Sedaris was on and somehow Paul Dinello snuck in there as well. She pointed out Stephen’s arrogant rant about his holiday album languishing at #16 in iTunes’ charts while Kanye’s album was at #1. Operation Humble Kanye was born:

My favorite bit starts at about 1:40.

Sir, you are not the voice of this generation of this decade. In fact, with all the auto-tuning on your records, you’re barely the voice of your own albums.

I’m really not a fan of auto-tuning. I still refer to Cher’s Believe as “that robot she got to sing for her.” CNET News picked up on it as well, but I never check iTunes charts to see what’s at what number since I’m just not “down” with what all you kids are listening to these days. 😛 However it looks like the news was able to break through the perpetual force field of ego and self-satisfaction that surrounds Kanye West and a response was made… on twitter. Warning: it gets a little blue.

As to the title of this entry… seriously, does anyone know what the charts looked like yesterday at 5pm EST? And Comedy Central… your embedding code sucks! Messin’ up my whole page just to show 3 minutes of video, s’wrong with you?

Kanye West is just amazing. That’s not a compliment. I wish I could buy him for what he’s worth and sell him for what he THINKS he’s worth.
