I would totally stand in line for that
Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope everyone’s got some fun plans in store today. I’ll be heading to Solomons Island to spend the day on Justin’s parents’ yacht — I just love saying that, yacht, yacht, yacht! — but I’ll bring back pictures, as it’s most likely just a boat and we’re not taking it anywhere, just hanging out all day ’til the fireworks tonight.
I’ve got a cheesecake cooling in the fridge (no cracks, yay!) and my bathing suit and camera ready to be packed. I’m just tidying up a bit around the house this morning and we’re headed down around 2. I took Thurs and Fri off from work, so it’ll be a 5-day weekend for me, woo! I don’t have plans (yet) to go anywhere, maybe I should check out last minute flights… who’s got a spare bed?
I was catching up on my feeds this morning and saw the following Alt Text entry by Lore Sjöberg about other potential 80’s cartoon/toy lines that could be made into action-packed, PG-13 special effects retro-ganzas. I know it’s a joke, but I would absolutely see the first one, his plot outline is truly outrageous:
Jem and the Holograms
A computer virus called M.I.S.F.I.T.S. gains control of S.Y.N.E.R.G.Y, an experimental government holographic generator. The virus creates a group of artificial cybernetic beings bent on murder. In response, beautiful hacker Jessica Benton reprograms the generator to give her cybernetic enhancements and create a cadre of holographic warriors to back her up as she goes after the malevolent Misfits. Then they play crappy New Wave tunes.
- Catch Phrase of the Summer: “Jem is excitement. Jem is adventure. Jem is kicking your ass.“
- Fan Complaints: In the original, Jessica changes into Jem by touching her earrings. In this movie she changes by touching her bracelet.
I grew up sailing out of Solomons, although I haven’t been there in many years now. It’s great – you either go out to the Bay or down the Patuxent.
