in DC: tanning at The Mall
… the National Mall, that is. A friend and I had the day off and were enjoying the lovely weather when we saw this gentleman doing the same. He was soaking up the rays on the National Mall, minding his own business and reading, but attracting quite a lot of attention.
Whether it was his striped bikini swimsuit, his nonchalance or his–perceived–brazenness, I don’t know. But all I can say to that anonymous sun worshipper is: tan on, good sir, tan on.
Fabulous! Of course, it’s only a matter of time before some uppity parent, who took their kids to ride the carousel, calls the police and has the sun worshipper hauled off for indecent exposure or some stupid something or other.
.-= latest entry: Oh Happy Day! =-.
You’re so right. I was taking pictures of the carousel and half-expected some parent to come over and clip for taking pictures of children.
And you know if it had been a woman suntanning, there’d have been no shock whatsoever. 😉
Good for him whether he is an attention seeker or simply comfortable with what he was wearing is not the point. If people have an issue with what he was wearing they can always walk away.
I wish more men with his build would oblige and dress the same way up here in Boston. It would provide me that extra bit of motivation I need when I’m running along the Charles River.
You know…nobody would cared if this was the 1970s or 1980s, or even the 1990s.
I’m willing to bet that even less people would have cared at the time, if it had been a woman in a bikini instead of a man in a speedo.
