Oh yeah, I’ll slice your cheese… permanently.

I got into the office before 7:30 this morning, which unfortunately has me thinking about lunch already and subsequently food (which isn’t hard to do) and then I remember my Sur la Table gift card, so I peruse the site a little bit, sharing with Chris some funny finds, when I came across this item:

Wire Cheese Slicer: Cleanly sever crumbly blue cheese and make quick wedges from a round of Camembert. Stainless steel wire strung between two plastic handles. Also great for slicing polenta and torting cakes (making layers). Made in France. 18.5 in. long.

Honestly, it took me a while to make it to the description because I couldn’t stop staring at the picture…

Yes, it’s a cheese garrote. At only $3, I can imagine why they’re sold out between people needing good looking props, and those that might need a piece of wire affixed to two handles for things that need to be cleanly severed, and… other reasons.

Kinda reminds me of a quote from “the Golden Girls”:

Sophia: You know what Sicily’s biggest export was? Piano wire!

Oh, and I feel the need to insert a “Who cut the cheese?” joke in here. 😉
