video: ‘Planet Earth’ narrated by kids

I love me some nature documentaries, be they heartwarming or heartbreaking and truth be told, it was catching sight of “Planet Earth” on Blu-Ray in an electronics store that really got me wanting to buy an HDTV. I’m also a big fan of ones narrated by (Sir) David Attenborough.1 Something about his love of nature really comes through in his reading. I have not been a fan of when they’ve opted for American actors to re-record the narration for various documentaries on US networks (Oprah Winfrey, Sigourney Weaver, Alec Baldwin, etc.) because I don’t see why they should change anything, Attenborough is perfect.

However, these kids might change my mind…

Per Boing Boing:

Director Joe Sabia has created this adorable spot for BBC America’s natural history series Planet Earth. In the promo, a series of 4-7 year old children take the place of series narrator David Attenborough—or, as he is known here, “Dabud Abunburble.” You may well die of cute.

I am reminded of a clip from The Simpsons episode “Diatribe of a Mad Housewife” where Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen are pegged to read the audiobook version of Marge’s “The Harpooned Heart.”

But the kids are much cuter. Alternate audio track for the Blu-Ray, anyone? :green:

1 Though I will make an exception for Earthflight narrated by David Tennant. *swoon*
