I have a new favorite commercial and it’s not a car commercial for a change:

It’s been a good season for bacon on the food blogs lately, but this Ultimate Bacon Sandwich really takes the cake. Anthony Bourdain calls bacon the “gateway protein” and a NYT article from last year has an interview with the publishers of meatpaper: “We find over and over again that bacon is the conversion meat,” Ms. Standen said. “Bacon is how vegetarians change their minds.” Even Kyle lists it as one of the reasons he didn’t convert to Islam.

Oddly enough, much as I love it, I don’t make it very often. For some reason I’m never smart enough to remember to wear sleeves when I fry it and making it in the oven is a bit more prep than I like until I get the proper pan/rack combo. I haven’t roasted a chicken in a while, and I cover the whole bird with bacon to infuse fat, so there’s a thought… 😈

I’ve heard people use the expression “Bacon is the gateway meat” quite often. I can honestly say that it’s the meat that made me stop being a happy vegetarian. I’m going to go make bacon-cheddar deep-fried tofu now.

Actually, I don’t miss bacon one bit. And this is coming from a southern boy.
Chick Fil A Sammiches, on the other hand, or fried chicken in general, goodness gracious.

Oh, and Anthony Bourdain is an ass.

My mind is now drifting off to bacon. It’s one reason why I’m not a vegetarian for sure, but not the only one.
